Useful woodland organisations

If you’re looking for support with how to manage your woodlands, or to take over the management of a woodland, these organisations may be able to help.

  • Llais y Goedwig – the voice of community woodlands in Wales; creator of CoedNet! 
  • Llais y Goedwig membership map – find a group near you
  • Coed Cymru – support for creating and managing Welsh woodlands
  • Small Woods – UK association supporting the stewardship and care of small woodlands
  • Coed Lleol – the Welsh chapter of Small Woods, with a specific focus on improving the health and wellbeing of people in Wales through woodland, nature-based activities
  • Coed Cadw – the Woodland Trust in Wales

Selling food and drink

There is specific guidance and laws around selling food and drink. 

  • Food Premises Approval Wales – Welsh government information about food premises
  • Food labelling and packaging – UK government information about food labelling and packaging regulations
  • food.gov.uk – information about selling food and drink through mail order or delivery
  • Dewis Gwyllt – a pilot project from Llais y Goedwig which explored sustainable harvesting of non-wood forest products, including birch syrup and wild garlic.

Biosecurity is becoming increasingly important in woodlands as efforts are stepped up to try and reduce the spread of woodland pathogens and invasive species.
