Sustainability

The CoedNet project is committed to sustainability. If managed in the right way, woodlands can and should be a sustainable source of products and services for generations to come, while still remaining places that are great for wildlife too.

Sustainability Agreement

We believe that all ‘goods from the woods’ and woodland activities, from timber to wild garlic to forest school, should be harvested or carried out in a sustainable manner. This will ensure woodland resources are not damaged or depleted.

We ask all woodland groups and businesses who appear on CoedNet to be committed to the sustainable use of woodlands. As such, we ask them to agree that:

  • the woodlands from which products are derived or where services are delivered, are managed sustainability.
  • a suitable management and operations plan is in place which encompasses all activities carried out in the woodlands.

And that they:

  • have written permission/a contract/a licence in place to collect the materials from/deliver services in the woodlands.
  • only collect/gather these materials/products according to the conditions that are detailed in the permission/contract/licence, which corresponds to the detail in the operations plan.
  • use best practice guidance (where available) to collect/gather these materials/products in order to limit or mitigate any negative ecological implications.

If you have any questions or comments about this, please do get in touch.
